The Four Seasons of Redbridge

A special exhibition by Gideon Knight, a 19 year old local resident and winner of numerous prestigious photography awards, most notably the Natural History Museums Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year in 2016. This new exhibition aims to show the wildlife that can be found in Redbridge and highlights the colours, behaviour and weather of each of the year's seasons. From the flowers of spring, the newborn animals of summer and the rich russets of autumn to the bleakness of winter, these images will take you through a year in the life of the animals that call this borough their home.

Valentines Mansion is proud to once again be participating in Open House 2019, a celebration of the capitals best buildings. Explore the grade II* listed Mansion, including the Victorian Kitchen, Georgian Bedchamber, Regency Parlour and lots more. Ten years ago, the very top floor of Valentines Mansion was transformed into six contemporary studios for local artists. Pottery, printmaking, sculpture, fused glass, willow weaving, basketry, painting, ceramics and photography - these are just some of the art forms practiced from this space. Now's your chance to explore the studios and meet the artists, see how their work is made, and buy a unique piece of art to take home.

The Valentines Anomaly

There is a strange phenomenon taking place at Valentines Mansion. Julien Slade has invited you to help investigate, but is all as it seems? There are ghostly lights and unusual supernatural goings on, Slade tells you that something very strange is taking place; the spirits in the building are waking up. Can they be trusted to guide you? Your team will embark on an hour long journey around the mansion; the house that Slade believes is the hiding place for an ancient artefact from the ill-fated ship, the East Indiaman Valentine, a mysterious but cursed item. Is this all just an elaborate hoax, or will the mansion take its revenge?

Jingle all the way to our Christmas Fair and browse our lovely stalls for the perfect festive gifts. With handpicked crafts, jewellery, food, drink, soaps, candles and plenty more, you will find something for everyone, including a treat or two for yourself! The artists studios will be open on the Sunday, make sure you venture to the 2nd floor where you can pick up a variety of handmade and unique items, including woven baskets, paintings, fused glass, books and more.

Best seller! Your final chance this year to join one of our fused glass workshops, with studio artist Amanda Seljubac. Amanda will guide you though all the tricks and techniques used to create a decorative glass masterpiece, and on hand will be a variety of specialist tools such as frit, stringers, metal inclusions and compatible glass. Master the principles of a contemporary textile craft in this workshop. Punch needle is a modern take on the ancient craft of rug hooking. In this 3 hour workshop, you will learn a how to use a punch needle with a variety of yarn to create your own unique piece of wall art. A range of patterns will be provided or you can choose to punch your own design. We will be exploring Valentines Mansion and gardens for inspiration for your designs.

Christmas Printmaking Workshop

Using the traditional method of lino printing you will learn how to design and create your very own cards, gift tags and wrapping paper in this Christmas inspired workshop. Learn the art of carving and printing linocuts in one or two colours with good quality tools and inks to get excellent prints.
