Exhibition: Venetta Nicole – A Language of Colour and Form

Event Image
This October Vision Redbridge Culture and Leisure, in partnership with Redbridge Council, is proud to celebrate Black History Month. A Language of Colour and Form brings together Venetta Nicole’s exploration of colour, shape, texture and movement as a visual language. Working intuitively across abstraction, portraiture and architectural forms, Nicole transforms personal experiences, memories, cultural heritage and emotional landscapes into vibrant and layered compositions. Through her own lens, she invites us to look beyond literal representation and consider how colour and form can communicate what words sometimes cannot. Her work explores identity, belonging, resilience, memory and the complexities of human experience, while allowing space for the viewer to bring their own interpretations and stories. The exhibition reflects Nicole’s belief that art is a language of freedom—a space where experiences can be expressed, reimagined and seen from multiple perspectives. Venetta Nicole is a London-based Caribbean artist, and ex-Ilford resident, who graduated from Middlesex University in 2007. She won the Women in Art Prize Susan Angoy Award (2022), was a finalist in the Dubel Art Prize (2025) and won the Women in Art Prize Tim May Memorial Award (2026). Her collaborators include Roche, Yamaha, Arup, Get Living, and Bulgar Construction. Following her first solo exhibition in 2024, her work was collected by Tunji Akintokun and Kemide Lawson of Cottage Noir. Instagram: venetta_nicole / Email: venettanicole@outlook.com.
