Valentines Mansion Needs You! Join our Team of Volunteers

Are you looking for a new challenge and a way of making the most of your free time?  Why not join our team of volunteers at Valentines Mansion & Gardens and make a wonderful contribution to your local community.

Valentines Mansion is open to the public to explore every Sunday and Monday, and our brilliant volunteers play an integral role in the running of the house.  As the first point of call for visitors to the mansion, they are crucial to the overall experience, and possess a wealth of knowledge which they are always happy to pass on to the public.

It’s not only open days the volunteers help with, many of them enjoy getting involved in our bigger events too.  Lending a hand with children’s activities during the school holidays, getting into character and dressing up for our Victorian Christmas events, greeting clients for our wedding venue showcase and leading historic guided tours are just some of the interesting and fun activities our volunteers have assisted with recently.

If you’re looking to meet new people, volunteering is the perfect way!  Our volunteers are a friendly and welcoming group, so you’re sure to make new friends with similar interests.

Anne Davers is one of our newest volunteers and encourages more people to give it a go.

“In February 2023 I applied to become a volunteer at Valentines Mansion and I haven’t looked back…I absolutely love it!  I am enjoying giving something back to the community that I live in, meeting new people, learning about the history of this fabulous building and making new friends.  Being on the front desk is my favourite place and welcoming people from all walks of life, young and old, from different cultures and countries.  Every one of them is so interesting.  Sometimes at the end of my volunteer shift I help with closing the 320 year old wooden window shutters, and I gain a sense of preserving this historic building for future generations.  If you are considering becoming a volunteer…go for it!  There is so much to be gained and I only wish I had done it years ago!”
